The camera has been down since the Internet provider arbitrarily changed its policies and brought the camera  to a halt. There are other difficulties with the old building, so a new and better location is being sought. If you want this webcam to continue and possibly expand, your attention and action is needed.

As of April 2010, the free main street webcam has been in continuous operation in downtown Klamath Falls for ten years. During that time, I've made some simple requests of the viewers:

1. To share info about where you are and why you like the cam. A total of 38 people did so over the past decade, and thank you very much to those who did. Statistics showed many more people viewing the camera than that, so apparently, benevolent services and politics share apathy from the citizenry.

2. Viewers were asked refer business to the sponsors. The main sponsor was 541 Realty. Never has there been a single referral from a webcam user that has led to a sale or a listing. I'd quite happily continue this and add more cameras in perpetuity without question if there were any tangible benefits. But it is difficult to justify the time and money in supporting the camera when there have been at least a dozen webcam viewers I am aware of who purchased or sold real estate in Oregon without involving the sponsor.

3. Viewers were asked too post links and blog about the webcam so more people could find it. There were only two verified individuals who did this. Was it so much to ask for every viewer to post at least one reference somewhere on the Internet? 

I mentioned this a few years ago and several viewers chastised me for whining. That almost compelled me to cease the service earlier. I understand a lot of people expect government entitlements, but how is the world supposed to improve with such harsh criticism of a volunteer effort?

WHERE WE ARE NOW

To convince a new site owner to host the webcam, and to justify my own costs and efforts,  AT LEAST 250 UNIQUE WEBCAM VIEWERS need to verify their existence. Send an email stating that you want the webcam to continue and include your full name and mailing address. Your information will not be sold or conveyed to any third parties. It will only be used to show selected property owners that there is a large enough following to justify hosting cameras on their buildings. Send your emails to: cam@klamath.net

AND of course... the most helpful effort stands... send a real estate buyer or seller to the main sponsor, 541 Realty.com

A little extra effort (far less than I've put into this) will go a long way.
